RPS vs MI Review: Supergiant slay Mumbai Indians to reach maiden IPL final

It was Pune’s third win a row against Pune this season as they reached the final of Indian Premier League. This is Pune’s second and last season and it would be a great news for their fans if they can end their journey by winning the coveted trophy. Knowing that the pitch was not that easy to bat on, RPS batsman adjusted their game and played cautiously. Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwary played vital knocks and in the end, Dhoni was at his destructive best, smashing 40 off 26 balls  propelling Pune to 162 .

Young Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers for Supergiant as he picked up the crucial wickets of  Pollard and Rayudu and Rohit Sharma.Although, Sharma had been unfortunate after he was given out LBW despite the replay showing ball hitting the bat. Parthiv Patel was the only Mumbai batsman who fought and was looking good before Shardul Thakur got the better of him. Patel’s half century went in vain.

Rohit rued lack of partnerships as they suffered their third defeat against Pune this season."I think 160 was below par to be honest, having seen the scores chased here. Probably the worst batting performance of this season for us. We didn`t have enough partnerships, it`s crucial to get small partnerships in," Rohit said at the post match presentation ceremony. Mumbai, who had topped the group stages, remain in the competition and will meet the winner of  Eliminator between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
