NSA to be invoked on IOC pipeline petrol thieves, ‘kingpin’ on the run

After stealing the petrol from the pipeline, the oil mafia was selling the fuel at one-fourth the market price to petrol pump owners in Kanpur, Etah, Firozabad, Agra, Mathura and elsewhere.Police have conducted raids at different locations and Goyal’s Agra residence, although he has not been located so far.“Goyal is on good terms with many politicians and government officials. The recent pilferage of petrol from pipelines has been going on since September, but this time Mathura police is ensuring that the entire illegal business is dismantled from its base upwards,” the DIG added.According to the police, the kingpin, Manoj Goyal, who is on the run after the incident, had expanded the illegal petrol business to Bharatpur in Rajasthan and Delhi. Last year in December, he was seen at Union minister Mahesh Sharma’s daughter’s wedding in Agra, where he was photographed with senior government officials, including the former district magistrate of Agra and the commissioner of Varanasi,” said a source.“His influence is such that he even donated funds for the renovation of several police stations and outposts in Agra,” the source added.
