AGRA: Students of DS College in Aligarh have demanded action against chief proctor, Dr PK Sharma for forcing a BA Ist year student, Pankaj Kumar to remove saffron coloured "saffa" (head band) before entering the college.When Pankaj asked the proctor for the reason for removing the saffa, he allegedly taunted him by saying that this is not BJP or RSS office. Pankaj told TOI that he had covered his head, as it was shaved following his father's death, and the proctor forcibly removed the saffa.Pankaj said he had filed a complaint with the college authorities and the local police station as chief proctor also threatened him to ruin his carrier. He said if no action is taken against the proctor, he threatened to go on hunger strike or commit suicide. He said it is sad that the proctor is doing such things.When contacted chief proctor of DS College, Dr PK Sharma, denied allegations against him and said these are all baseless. He said that CCTV footage is available in the college and same is being sent to SP and SSP. He said, he had only stopped the students for checking, as exams are going on. He was sitting with six teachers when Pankaj came to the college."We asked him to show his head band and he himself opened it and then put it on neck," said PK Sharma adding that statement by BA I st year student's against him may be the result of a previous incident in which he had complained against a few students for allegedly asking a muslim student not to wear a skull cap in the campus.When contacted SSP, Aligarh, Rajesh Pandey, said that matter is being inquired and case will be registered if required.Meanwhile, students of DS College staged protest and burnt effigy of chief proctor and raised slogan against him.
