Nepal the epicenter of iPhone theft in India: Police

Police sources believe the epicenter of this theft is in Nepal There is enormous demand of stolen electronic goods in Nepal's grey market and more than 10 gangs are operating in the country to serve this demand. Within two or three days, the thieves recce and target a showroom, before quickly moving on to another city. At this time, they received a tip that the gang was being operated from Bihar.Then, they discovered that the gang leader is in Nepal and he asks these gangs to steal products as per demand in the grey market. Out of them, the police team from Ahmedabad managed to successfully catch the thief.The thief admitted that he was asked to steal from not only big cities like Ahmedabad and Surat but also from small towns in Saurashtra .

NEW DELHI: A thief involved in the theft of expensive high-end gadgets like iPhones and iPads was recently nabbed in Bihar by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch Police sources said that when the Crime Branch officials reached Bihar, they found that other police teams from 10 different states were hot on the heels of the same gang. Out of them, the police team from Ahmedabad managed to successfully catch the thief.The thief admitted that he was asked to steal from not only big cities like Ahmedabad and Surat but also from small towns in Saurashtra . The stolen gadgets are sold at 50 per cent less price in Nepal, said PI Shankar Chaudhary.All the gangs are reportedly operated from Bihar.Last month, the gang stole iPhones and iPads worth Rs 40 lakh from a showroom in Judges Bungalows area in Ahmedabad.
