Health officials apprised of Ayushman scheme

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, June 12A team of Central government health officials on Wednesday met representatives of government and private hospitals of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts and apprised them about the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Arogya Yojana. The health officials said the scheme had been named as Ayushman Bharat-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna. She said the beneficiaries of Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana have also been merged with the new scheme. Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said the new scheme would help poor people in availing medical services in a better way. He asked the officials of government and private hospitals to understand the scheme in detail so that implementation was done in a better way.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Medical Commissioner Prabhdeep Kaur said under Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011, around 42 lakh people had been found eligible in the state. She said, “ The Amritsar district has a data base of around 1.29 lakh families out of which 88,000 are living in urban areas”. She said the beneficiaries of Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojana have also been merged with the new scheme. Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said the new scheme would help poor people in availing medical services in a better way. He asked the officials of government and private hospitals to understand the scheme in detail so that implementation was done in a better way.
