Left parties urge people to root out SAD-BJP govt

Amritsar, January 16The Communist Party of India (CPI) and its allied Left parties today gave a clarion call to defeat the SAD-BJP government in the state by voting for Left candidates in the fray for the Assembly polls. She said the Left parties, including the CPI, CPM and Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), joined hands to contest the coming Assembly elections. CPI state leader Bant Singh Brar, while speaking on the occasion, said during the rule of the SAD-BJP government, the industry had collapsed while business and traders were at the receiving end. The CPI leaders were also critical of the Congress and AAP leaders, who were fleecing people on the basis of false promises.

CPI national secretary Amarjit Kaur, while addressing the gathering, said the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was pro-corporate, which made policies only to benefit the industrialists and high-profile business families, rather than the common man. She said the Left parties, including the CPI, CPM and Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI), joined hands to contest the coming Assembly elections. She said the recent demonetisation by the Modi-led government had broken the back of the common man and the business community while the worst hit were the labourers. CPI state leader Bant Singh Brar, while speaking on the occasion, said during the rule of the SAD-BJP government, the industry had collapsed while business and traders were at the receiving end. CPI district secretary Amarjit Singh Asal said his party, the CPM and RMPI had fielded Daswinder Kaur for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat while Gurnam Kaur was contesting from Amritsar (West). Similarly, Baldev Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and Gurwinder Singh would be contesting Amritsar (East), Amritsar (South) and Attari, respectively. — TNS
