Health Dept prepares for polio drive

District Immunisation Officer Dr Ramesh Pal Singh said the authorities had constituted 2,716 teams comprising of 5,432 employees and 292 supervisors. District Leprosy Officer Dr Jyotika Kalsi said leprosy was completely curable and that patients were advised not to leave the treatment midway as it might cause infection to their family members. The department has identified 3,25,788 children in the age group of 0-5 years who would be administered polio drops during the three-day drive. The meeting was attended by senior medical officers of various health institutions and representatives of the police, power and education departments.

The department has a target to reach 5,23,368 homes in the district. The department has identified 3,25,788 children in the age group of 0-5 years who would be administered polio drops during the three-day drive. Officials said a campaign called Saparsh was also being run to create awareness about leprosy.
