State has plunged into lawlessness, says Majithia

Tribune News ServiceAmritsar, March 22Former Punjab minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Majithia today said the state descended into lawlessness within week of formation of the Congress government. Talking to mediapersons here today Majithia said defeated Congress candidate in Majitha, Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli Majithia, and his relatives were committing one atrocity after another even as the government remained a mute spectator. When contacted, Lalli Majithia denied any attempt to indulge in political vendetta. In case this lawlessness was not curbed the SAD would approach the Union Home Ministry and also courts to get justice, he added. A case was today registered after property documents were produced at the Kathunangal police station.

Amritsar, March 22 Former Punjab minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Majithia today said the state descended into lawlessness within week of formation of the Congress government. He asked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to rein in rogue Congress elements, which were teaming up criminals, to indulge in vendetta politics. Talking to mediapersons here today Majithia said defeated Congress candidate in Majitha, Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli Majithia, and his relatives were committing one atrocity after another even as the government remained a mute spectator. “Earlier, Lalli’s men attacked and ransacked the property of a Dalit woman councillor in Ward No. 1 in Majitha. Now, they have led an attack with unlicensed weapons on a brick kiln of former a district attorney Narinder Singh at Abdal village,” he claimed. He said criminals were threatening SAD workers in the constituency. In case this lawlessness was not curbed the SAD would approach the Union Home Ministry and also courts to get justice, he added. “We will also come on roads to demand justice if need arises,” he said, adding that the SAD would not allow peace and communal harmony to be destroyed in Punjab at any cost. When contacted, Lalli Majithia denied any attempt to indulge in political vendetta. He claimed that it was a sheer attempt to give a political colour to a dispute between some individuals. Meanwhile, SSP (rural) J Elanchezhian ruled out any political pressure in the case. He said the two parties were sparring and accusing each other over a possession of land. He said they could not lodge any complaint as no document was provided. A case was today registered after property documents were produced at the Kathunangal police station.
