Policeman killed in road mishap

mritsar, March 27A head constable, Dalbir Singh, posted with the narcotic cell at Mall Mandi was run over by a speeding truck on the Batala road here yesterday. Jasmer Singh, brother of the deceased, said that he was going to his duty on his motorcycle when a speeding truck hit his brother. He died on the spot while the driver ran away leaving the truck behind. The Division A police have booked the driver identified as Jaggi and raids were being conducted to arrest him. A case under Sections 304-A and 279, IPC, has been registered in this regard.
