Mission Indradhanush to be launched in dist from April

In addition to this, vaccines for Japanese encephalitis and haemophilus influenzae type B will also be provided.While the mission was formally launched on December 25, 2014, Aurangabad has found place in the fourth phase of its implementation, authorities said. As immunization is considered the key to protect children from life threatening conditions that are preventable, the ministry of health and family welfare has decided to intensify its efforts in immunization though Indradhanush.Gawande said municipal limits of Aurangabad as well as rural parts of the district would be covered under the mission.

done...Aurangabad: Mission Indradhanush , a health initiative by the central government that aims to offer full immunisation coverage to children up to two years of age as well as expectant mothers, will be executed in Aurangabad district during April to July.Aurangabad is one of the 12 districts from Maharashtra that have been covered under Mission Indradhanush which aims to expand immunization coverage to all children across India by 2020.On Wednesday, resident deputy collector Vishwambhar Gawande conducted a review meeting with health department and other government agencies here."Aurangabad currently has immunisation percentage of 60% in the target child group. Emphasising on door-to-door surveys, he said home visits would help in identifying target children and expectant mothers.Polio drive on April 2:The district administration is also gearing up for an anti-polio drive in the rural and urban areas on April 2.Though polio has been eradicated from the country, possibilities of the virus coming from countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan are still there. Therefore, all children in the age-group of up to five years must get covered under upcoming special drive against polio, authorities said.Asking for micro-planning for execution of the drive, the administration has asked health authorities to ensure that not a single child from the target group is left out.
