done...Aurangabad: The en masse leave agitation by resident doctors failed to make any adverse impact on functioning of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here as healthcare services were offered to patients on a normal note. The official data, in fact, showed that the hospital served to relatively more number of patients during the agitation period compared to the average figures.Though medical education minister Girish Mahajan on Wednesday evening announced that the resident doctors across the state have withdrawn their agitation following discussions, GMCH medicos said that they were non-committal about resuming work.Representatives of over 200 doctors said they have not called off their agitation, but at the same time they chose to remain mum on the expulsion orders served to them by the GMCH administration in keeping with the directives from the state government. The government had served an ultimatum to the agitating doctors to resume their services by 8pm on Wednesday, failing which expulsion orders would be executed. When contacted, leaders of resident doctors avoided queries and simply maintained that they have not called off the strike. As per official figures, barring pathological investigations, healthcare offered under eight categories witnessed more beneficiaries than average during the agitation period.Sudhir Chaudhari, GMCH superintendent, said emergency services as well as general healthcare did not suffer due to execution of contingency plans.Heads of the departments, professors, unit in charges, assistant professors and housemen were roped in to avoid any inconvenience to patients.
