5 teenagers drown while swimming in river at Lakhimpur Kheri

Shahjahanpur: In a tragic incident, 5 teenagers from Gokulpuri colony of Lakhimpur drowned in Ull river on Wednesday morning. Circle officer Hariram Verma, superintendent of police S Chanappa and station officer Nagesh Mishra arrived in the village. The deceased were identified as Himanshu Mishra, Nishaant Awasthi, Priyanshu Gupta, Abhishek Mishra and Ankit Verma. The villagers immediately rushed into the water and managed to save two teenagers, while the rest drowned.The villagers immediately informed the police on Dial 100 and also called a 108 ambulance. Akash Kumar and Pratham Kumar, who were rescued by the locals, are admitted in the district hospital.Station officer of Sadar Kotwali police station, Nagesh Mishra said, “A group of teenagers were on a picnic and were probably swimming in the river when they were drowned.
