more-in Bengaluru: A 48-year-old revenue inspector attached to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) ended his life at his residence. According to the police, Srinivas H.C. hanged himself on Monday around 5.30 p.m. using his wife's saree when nobody else was in the house. The incident came to light when his wife Gita returned home. The Hanumanthnagar police have taken up a case of unnatural death and are investigating based on a complaint by the family that he faced harassment at work due to frequent transfers. Inquiries revealed that Srinivas was transferred to K.G. Nagar earlier this month from the J.P. Nagar office. When he was about to report for duty a fortnight ago, he was transferred to Rajarajeshwari Nagar. He did not report for work for the past 15 days. The family alleged that the local councillor harassed him and shunted him from one place to another. BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad said that Srinivas had worked in South Zone for nearly 10 years. He was shifted recently as per the transfer policy according to which all those who had worked for over three years in the same place were transferred. “Srinivas was transferred to the adjoining R.R. Nagar zone. But he refused to report to his new posting and instead continued in the same posting. He was not harassed,” he said.
