BJP trying hard to split BJD, advance Odisha assembly poll: BJD MP Tathagata Satpathy

BHUBANESWAR: A series of tweets by BJD MP Tathagata Satpathy alleging that the BJP is trying to split the BJD and try to advance assembly election in Odisha ahead of BJP's two-day national executive here from April 15 has created furore in political circles here. "BJP hard at work to divide @bjd_odisha in Parliament, maybe even in assembly. They want AIADMK type split," tweeted the Dhenkanal MP (@SatpathyLive)"They want to take away @bjd_odisha's party name & symbol. Rumors afloat that only one MP will swing this deal for them. Commenting on a twitterati's question on Satpathy's comment, Panda (@@PandaJay) wrote: "He (Satpathy) speaks w/ expertise, having once been suspended from BJD & joined another party. I don't have such experience, so will defer to his."Satpathy was suspended from the BJD in 2000 for anti-party activities. He had joined the Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP) founded and led by Bijoy Mohapatra and served as its general secretary. Satpathy staged a comeback in BJD just before the 2004 LS election.Reacting on Satpathy's tweets, senior BJD leader and former minister Surya Narayan Patro said the MP may be privy to information which he doesn't have. "Satpathy stays in Delhi for long. He may have knowledge of what is going in the central hall (of Parliament)," Patro told reporters here.Reacting to Satpathy's tweets, BJP national secretary Suresh Pujari said the BJP has no intention to break the BJD. "We will fight election on the basis of our own strength. The BJD seems to be in panic with growing people's support for the BJP," Pujari said.
