People created obstacles to ensure I do not enter politics, says Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar

CHENNAI: Late J Jayalalithaa 's niece Deepa Jayakumar alleged on Sunday that many people had "created obstacles" for her before she floated the political outfit MGR Amma Deepa Peravai on Friday.At a press briefing on Sunday, Deepa said she would be the secretary of the outfit and would announce the list of office bearers on Monday evening.She also alleged that there were "many people who created hurdles and obstacles to ensure that I do not enter politics". Deepa said she would also start making political announcements soon and travel and meet people across the state.However, she added, despite facing those problems, and based on the feedback of those who supported her, she decided to launch the outfit. "Deepak recently claimed that Jayalalithaa had bequeathed her properties, including her Veda Nilayam bungalow in Poes Garden in Chennai, to his sister Deepa and him, and had left a will.Deepa launched the outfit on Friday, on the occasion of her aunt Jayalalithaa's 69th birth anniversary and said she would contest from R K Nagar assembly constituency when a bypoll takes place there. "I will decide the future course of action based on the people's wishes, most importantly the wishes of true AIADMK supporters," she said.She reiterated that her recent meeting with former chief minister O Panneerselvam was only a "courtesy call," adding that she would take a decision on whether to join his group or not in the future.Responding to a query on whether there was someone behind her brother Deepak, encouraging him to make certain claims, Deepa alleged that " Sasikala 's family members are the ones in the background.
