28 Tasmac shops closed

District Collector V. Sampath said that shops located near schools, places of worship, and based on complaints from the general public, 28 shops and seven bars were closed from Friday. A total of 133 shops and 26 bars would be closed in Salem region that includes Salem 28, Dharmapuri 16, Krishnagiri 7, Namakkal 22, Vellore 24, Tiruvannamalai 27 and Arakkonam 9. It includes, Salem city 6, Omalur 4, Attur 3, Gangavalli 4, Sankari 3, Edappadi 2, Salem Taluk 3 and one each in Vazhapadi, Yercaud and Mettur. In Namakkal district, 22 shops and 13 bars were closed at various places here from Friday. A total of 133 shops and 26 bars would be closed in Salem region that includes Salem 28, Dharmapuri 16, Krishnagiri 7, Namakkal 22, Vellore 24, Tiruvannamalai 27 and Arakkonam 9. Officials said that workers of these shops would be allotted other works.
