The event also saw launch of new residential projects by a couple of promoters. Property promoters have displayed details of residential projects in Coimbatore and Chennai at the expo at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex. Inaugurating the fair, Vanitha Mohan, president of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, said residential projects should also have percolation ponds and rainwater harvesting structures. “We need water conservation and harvesting,” she said. According to Rajesh B. Lund, president of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI)-Coimbatore, the property market here is better now than what it was a year ago. Several developers are getting good enquiries and those are getting converted into sales too in larger numbers. The demand is especially good for ready-to-move in properties. V. Sundaram, president of Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA), and R. Palanisamy, former president of COINTEC, said the proposed CODISSIA Industrial parks would revive the industrial activity here when launched. It would bring in more investments and this would, in turn, boost the property sector too. Emami Infrastructure, which is part of the Emami group, is entering the city with “Emami Aerocity”, a project with DTCP approved plots. Rakesh Sharma, its general manager-sales and marketing, said there were strategic land parcels and micro regions in the city that had good demand. According to Mahesh Ahuja, managing director of VA Group, the market had picked up and what was important was also that the projects should be price competitive. The group launched Ahuja Highlands recently on Nanjundapuram road and visitors could see on a screen at the venue the construction activities going on at the project site. N. Dinesh, manager-sales and marketing of Sree Daksha Property Developers, said the enquiries had picked up in January and February. Sree Daksha is launching Darza, a premium segment residential project, at Nava India on Avinashi Road. Salarpuria Sattva, which launched Navaratna Residency here in 2015, has seen enquiries picking up in the last two months, especially from non-resident Indians.
