Protesting for a fulfillment of their longstanding four-point charter of demands, the teachers of historic Ravenshaw University on Wednesday have begun their token strike wearing a black badge. Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prakash Chandra Sarangi has said that the teachers have submitted their demands. While speaking to the media, Secretary of Ravenshaw Teachers’ Association Bikram Kesari Mishra, said that they have a four-point charter of demands, includingPromotion- While the Government’s gazette notification for promotion has already been a year old, it is not yet been implemented in the said university. Support Staff- Not a single support staff employed at present in any one of their departments there. Service book- The service books of our 22 teachers have been sent to the Chancellor for the last three years and yet to be back here.

The aggrieved teachers have threatened to stage dharna before the Vice-Chancellor’s Office here in the campus as well as before the Raj Bhawan, the Secretariat of Chancellor-cum-Governor of Odisha at the State capital city of Bhubaneswar from the first week of April.
While speaking to the media, Secretary of Ravenshaw Teachers’ Association Bikram Kesari Mishra, said that they have four-point charter of demands, including
Promotion- While the Government’s gazette notification for promotion has already been a year old, it is not yet been implemented in the said university.
Service book- The service books of our 22 teachers have been sent to the Chancellor for the last three years and yet to be back here. Hence, those teachers are being devoid of pay fixation and promotion.
Pension- Although amount from our salary is being deducted at source meant for the pension purpose, the amount deducted for the initial two years is yet to be transferred to the university to their respective pension accounts.
Support Staff- Not a single support staff employed at present in any one of their departments there. The teachers are simultaneously doing the job of a clerk too. Hence, quality of education, research work, etc are being affected.
He said that if their demands are not fulfilled, they will resort to dharna before the Vice Chancellor’s Office in April first week followed by such stir before the Chancellor.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prakash Chandra Sarangi has said that the teachers have submitted their demands. Whatever could be solved within the campus here will be definitely solved
