Dehradun: As poll watchers foresee a possibility of sympathy wave for the widow of BSP candidate in Karnaprayag, Congress and BJP are gearing up for a high-voltage campaign with CM Harish Rawat and BJP heavyweights Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and B C Khanduri canvassing for their parties in the picturesque constituency of Garhwal district.State Election Commission had deferred the polling in Karnaprayag to March 9 after the death of BSP candidate Kuldip Kanwasi. Election watchers claimed that the deceased BSP leader was not known much in the region but his tragic death in a road accident on February 12 has created a flutter in the region. BSP lost no time in fielding Jyoti from the seat, hoping to cash in on the sympathies of voters.The main opposition parties, BJP and Congress, are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters. Political watchers claim that the biggest worry for mainstream parties is the women voters as their percentage was higher than men voters in all districts of the state. Analysts said that the BSP candidate could actually get the sympathy of these women voters.Political parties are now planning to mobilize their cadre in the region, including native women. “BJP’s agenda is clear and Modiji has already announced Rishikesh to Karnaprayag rail link. The work for the project is already underway.
