DUTA demands permanent posts for ad-hoc teachers, writes to V-C

The objective is to formulate a one-time resolution for absorption of ad-hoc teachers into Delhi University (DU) and its affiliated colleges. The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has written to Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi, requesting him to call a meeting of the Academic and Executive councils of the university. The DUTA has also demanded that teachers who have worked in an ad-hoc capacity for long periods must be regularised. The DUTA also said that these teachers had given the prime of their youth to serve the university, but got little in return. In its letter to the V-C, the DUTA highlighted the plight of thousands of ad-hoc and temporary assistant professors who face job insecurity despite being experienced and academically-sound.
