A team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, under the supervision of DCP (Crime Branch) Ram Gopal Naik, reached IGI Airport to record the statement of Air India staff members including the crew of the aircraft in which the incident took place. The Delhi Police on Monday recorded the statements of 15 people, including the victim, in connection with the incident where Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad assaulted an Air India employee on a flight last week. The case was later transferred to the Crime Branch“We have also asked for the CCTV footage of the scuffle,” said a police officer.

The Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Mr. Gaikwad under Sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person) of the Indian Penal Code on March 25. The case was later transferred to the Crime Branch “We have also asked for the CCTV footage of the scuffle,” said a police officer. Mr Gaikwad, the Lok Sabha MP from Maharashtra’s Osmanabad, had hit Mr. Sukumar “25 times” with his sandal when the official persuaded him to disembark after the plane.
