Photo: Sushil Kumar Verma more-in Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Tuesday attacked the AAP-led Delhi government for inviting Professor A.G. Noorani to deliver a lecture. Arguing that the forthcoming municipal elections in Delhi were no longer confined to civic issues, the BJP legislator claimed that they were now “a fight between nationalist, patriotic and progressive forces on the one hand and anti-national, fascist and anarchist forces on the other”. ‘Anti-national forces’ “Whenever opportunity arises, both the AAP and the Congress unite to stand together to support anti-national and divisive forces. They were together in their support to separatist forces at JNU and Ramjas College. They both showed sympathy to student leaders demanding azadi and chanting slogans at JNU and Ramjas College,” Mr. Gupta said at a press conference here. Mr. Gupta questioned the AAP’s recent invitation to Supreme Court advocate and Prof. Noorani, whom he accused of being “in favour of a plebiscite on Kashmir” to deliver a lecture organised on Martyrs’ Day on March 23. He then accused Mr. Kejriwal of standing with “separatist forces” during the recent Punjab Assembly elections. “He called demonetisation an anti-national measure. He demanded proof of the Army’s surgical strikes in Pakistan. He accused the Centre of not allowing him to work, blocking the Bills passed by the Delhi Assembly and creating an India-Pakistan situation. Since Delhi represents India in a mini form, it’s the high time that such disruptive forces are given a befitting reply,” Mr. Gupta further said.
