Waste management exhibition to be held in Panaji

PANAJI: Waste management and sustainable living is the need of the hour in Goa; training and awareness for which must begin at the school level. Taking this into account, Goa-based NGO Communicare Trust , with the help the state Directorate of Education held waste management workshops for 740 primary school teachers across the 12 talukas over a period of two years. "We exchanged information on how waste was treated and could have been treated in the school and localities. "We intend to offer a bag made of a used t-shirt to every visitor on the day of the exhibition," added SouzaThe collection will run from 1st to 15th April. It contains four stories related to waste management and showcases garbage bins, brinjals, elephants etc who will fight with the villains to keep Goa clean and green.Communicare Trust will be collecting used T-shirts at Magsons (Miramar, Porvorim and Fatorda) and Delfino's (Porvorim).

We studied that some places still burn all the wastes while other just dump them all without segregating," said Nalini Souza of Communicare Trust.The teachers will share the experiences of what they have taken back and implemented from the workshop by way of an exhibition that will be soon held.The North talukas will be getting together at Don Bosco Oratory , Panaji and the South talukas at Big Foot Musuem , Loutolim.On the day of the exhibition, Communicare Trust will be launching a book by the name Kalakriti written by the students of Santo Miguel, Taleigao.
