Govt. told to file ‘detailed, sworn, truthful counter-affidavit’

The swearing in was held in court hall of the Chief Justice in the presence of all sitting judges and advocates.

more-in A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther on Tuesday asked the Telangana government to file a detailed affidavit regarding the conditions prevailing in Government Maternity Hospital, Koti and others. The court had taken up the case suo motu after the pathetic conditions faced by women in advanced pregnancy in these maternity hospitals were reported in the press. On an earlier occasion, the court had appointed two women advocates to visit the hospital and submit a report. Two separate reports were filed. The government filed counter-affidavit and the bench was not satisfied with the counter. The bench termed this one that was bereft of any details. The court granted one week to file a ‘detailed, sworn, truthful, counter-affidavit’. Judges sworn in Four senior most district and sessions judges were sworn in High Court judges on Tuesday morning. The bench comprising Justice Ramasubramanian and Justice S.V.Bhatt confirmed the bids for three properties. KMR Constructions offered ? 11.20 crores for 23.84 acres of land in Krishna district, Kancikacharla and Saidapuram; Viswanatha Naidu offered ? 60 lakh for one acre of land in the same village; Nalini Kumari offered ? 4.25 crore for 33 acres in Nandaluru village, Veerulapadu mandal, Krishna district. Kalyan Chakravarthy complained to the court that he was ready to offer ? 32 lakh for two acres in the same village but ingress and egress was blocked obviously by benamis of Agri Gold. The bench asked the CID to inquire into the matter and submit a report. The auction would continue on Wednesday.
