Skills centres to train those going abroad: Rudy

Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the international centres would train people specifically in variety of trades where candidates need skills to work abroad. More than 20,000 people have been trained in various skills and 1.50 lakh people benefited from the medical camps at its centres in Nellore, Vijayawada and Hyderabad. He was speaking after launching some skill development programmes conducted by Swarna Bharathi Trust on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. Trust conference halls will be given for training programmes of the Government and programmes by farmers, dalits and women free of cost. He said the trust was training people in skill development apart from conducting medical camps.

more-in With large number of people going abroad in search of better employment opportunities, the Government of India is planning to set up 100 International Skill Centres where pre-departure training would be given to youth going abroad apart from making them aware of the rules and regulations in those countries and the embassy support in times of distress. Focus on skills Quality education and skilled work force were the need of the hour, he said and referred to how Uber and Ola changed the structure of taxi driving imparting few English skills, etiquette and enhancing driving skills using technology. Though Jamshedpur was the first heavy vehicle manufacturing unit, there were very few people who knew driving those days, he pointed out. Similar demand was there for skilled personnel in various sectors and the Modi Government was focussing on training more than one crore people with various skills to meet the demand. Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu said that ? 4,000 crore was allocated in the Union budget to train more than 3.5 crore people in skills that market forces demand under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Programmes (SANKALP). Training available At the Swarna Bharat Trust in Muchintala near Shamshabad training would be given in 17 streams like Automobile, Plumbing, Wiring, Refrigeration, Garment Making, Tailoring and Embroidery among others. He said the trust was training people in skill development apart from conducting medical camps. More than 20,000 people have been trained in various skills and 1.50 lakh people benefited from the medical camps at its centres in Nellore, Vijayawada and Hyderabad. He appealed to the youngsters to equip themselves with skills for not only employment but also creation of employment opportunities for others rather than just aiming for Government jobs. Trust conference halls will be given for training programmes of the Government and programmes by farmers, dalits and women free of cost. Amberpet MLA G. Kishan Reddy and AP Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao were among present. Later, the Union ministers felicitated Padma award winners from two Telugu States — T. Hanuman Chowdary, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahid, Ekka Yadagiri, B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Darepalli Janaki Ramaiah and Chintakindi Mallesham.
