Former MP Ganga Reddy is dead

Hailing from Kespally village in Jakranpally mandal, he came to be known as Kespally Ganga Reddy instead of “Gaddam”, his surname. Ganga Reddy created a special recognition for himself in the district politics with his selfless service, commitment, determination and dedication. Former Member of Parliament and MLA Gaddam (Kespally) Ganga Reddy passed away after a brief illness at his residence in Hyderabad on Monday morning. Ganga Reddy was a successful businessman and set up several business establishments in Hyderabad and Karnataka. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of Ganga Reddy family.

Former Member of Parliament and MLA Gaddam (Kespally) Ganga Reddy passed away after a brief illness at his residence in Hyderabad on Monday morning. He was 84 and survived by wife, two sons and three daughters. Hailing from Kespally village in Jakranpally mandal, he came to be known as Kespally Ganga Reddy instead of “Gaddam”, his surname. In politics, his was a meteoric rise from the village Sarpanch to MP (three times from Nizamabad) and MLA for one time from Dichpally (now Nizamabad rural) constituencies. From 1991 onwards he was elected to the Lok Sabha three times consecutively on TDP ticket. He joined the TRS and was elected MLA in 2004. When all the TRS MLAs resigned in response to the call given by party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao to go for by-elections in 2007 he opted out to field his elder son Anand Reddy on the party ticket. However, Anand Reddy lost the by-election. Ganga Reddy was a successful businessman and set up several business establishments in Hyderabad and Karnataka. Philanthropist He was known for his charity and philanthropic services. He was instrumental in the establishment of Regional PF office, ESI Hospital here and the sanction of Peddapally-Nizamabad broad gauge railway line. As a politician, he maintained close relations with the former Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy. Ganga Reddy created a special recognition for himself in the district politics with his selfless service, commitment, determination and dedication. As the news of demise of Ganga Reddy spread condolences from all quarters poured in. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of Ganga Reddy family. Agriculture Minister P. Srinivas Reddy, Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha, Rajya Sabha Member D. Srinivas also conveyed their condolences. Anand Reddy said that his father’s funeral would be held on their farm at Mentrajpally on Tuesday. His body would be kept at their residence at Subhashnagar here for public view.
