The occasion was the announcement of the creation of a ‘Baahubali Network’ by Airtel, the mobile telephony major. It is the first time when the film’s director S.S. Rajamouli, producer and CEO of Arka MediaWorks Shobu Yarlagadda and actors Anushka, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati were on stage before the media in Hyderabad to talk about ‘Baahubali — The Conclusion’, set to be released on April 28. Streaming content Speaking about Airtel’s partnership, the mobile telephone service provider’s chief executive officer for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Venkatesh Vijayraghavan described it as a departure from tradition. “We will stream exclusive content on 4G to our customers and that is the unique selling proposition,” he explained. The offerings from the telecom company include special 4G ‘Baahubali’ SIM (subscriber identity module) cards, recharge packs and 4G data to help customers to listen to Wynk Music and watch Airtel Movies, including some freebies too. No details However, if the eager-beaver lot of media expected finer details about the film, they were disappointed. Generally-speaking, filmmakers are very cagey about revealing too much about their project and instead, come up with ‘teasers’ as a part of the publicity. But Arka MediaWorks and Rajamouli take the cake when it comes to maintaining ‘strategic silence’ and putting a thick shroud on their work. Nothing that they did not wish people to know about, came to light since the multi-lingual ‘Baahubali’ project began, years ago. Asked about what next, the director replied, “It will take a while before I move on. Its been five years now and am still a ‘Baahubali-an’,” he stated in a matter-of-fact tone, before vanishing backstage, with the other celebrities.
