30 dodge death as bus catches fire on highway

Driver of the vehicle looked down from his seat when he noticed fire in front lower part of the bus. However, till two firefighters from Sendhwa reached the spot, the bus was completely burnt.Patil said short circuit might have triggered fire in the bus. Barwani: Passengers travelling in a private sleeper coach bus had a narrow escape as the vehicle caught fire on Agra-Bombay national highway under Bijasan police outpost area of Barwani district.Bijasan police station in charge Keshav Patil told TOI that as many as 30 passengers were travelling in the bus. He immediately told the passengers to get down from the bus. The incident took place at 1:30 am when the vehicle was heading towards Pune from Indore.On Bijasan Ghat, 14km away from Sendhwa, the bus broke down.

Police and firefighters were informed about the incident. However, till two firefighters from Sendhwa reached the spot, the bus was completely burnt.Patil said short circuit might have triggered fire in the bus. The fire damaged some wires because of which the bus broke down in the way. This incident could have claimed several lives had the driver not noticed the fire and alerted passengers, he added.The traffic was diverted for some time and it was restored after the bus was removed from the highway. The travel agency arranged another bus for the passengers.In another incident, a crane heading towards Gorakhpur (UP) from Mumbai caught fire at an over bridge on Agra-Bombay national highway near Barufatak on Monday.Thikri police station in charge VK Sisodia told TOI that as soon as the driver started the crane it caught fire due to short circuit.
