Jaisalmer: Getting impatient with the inauguration of air services from Jaisalmer, which got delayed due to clearance issue, foreign tourists have started performing Yajna and Anusthan. Seven such women foreign tourists performed Yajna at Gadisagar Lake Saturday to satisfy the God as well as state government.Many locals along with an NGO I Love Jaisalmer joined these seven women who were willing to come to Jaisalmer from Jaipur on the proposed flight of Supreme Airlines on February 20 which was cancelled last moment as air force didn't give clearance citing that the airlines has not fulfilled the prescribed rules on passengers' safety and other important formalities.Wearing garland of Rudrash, the disappointed foreign tourist along with locals performed Yajna and offered Ahutis amid heavy chanting of hymns in at Gadisagar Lake. Local tour guide Lalit Purohit informed that Dona, a Canadian, along her friends — Pamela, Debra, Maulin, Tracy, Hyder and Christa— were to come Jaisalmer from Jaipur on February 20 and one of them came to know about the direct flight services starting for Jaisalmer. Soon, they contacted the airlines company only to be informed that the flight could not go and there was uncertainty about this flight for quite long time in Jaipur. Airlines officials were not able to give any satisfactory reply and passengers were totally clueless. Christa said air service to Jaisalmer is repeatedly getting postponed and wait for tourists is also getting longer leaving them in utter disappointment.After reaching Jaisalmer, they discussed with local guides Lait Purohit, Manish Gajja and Rajesh Bissa and expressed their wish to perform Yajna in traditional manner in the belief that God will be pleased through this ritual.Maulin said the Yajna, performed by pandit Surendra Bhausa, went for an hour followed by Aarti and distribution of sweets. They said another reason for Yajna was women empowerment and peace in the world.Meanwhile, many people from Jaisalmer tourist association Wednesday gave a memorandum to the collector to start air services soon.
