Jaipur: Calling the mass resignation bluff of agitating in-service doctors, medical and health minister Kalicharan Saraf on Friday said the health department has only received two packets of blank papers from the doctors' union.Addressing a media conference, he showed the two packets of blank sheets, addressed to the director of public health, received from Dr Ajay Chaudhary, president of All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors' Association. Saraf said the union leader had resorted to cheating their own members as wells as the public. He warned the striking doctors of serious action and said the government would spare those who join for duty by 7pm on Friday. The minister ruled out any talks with the association said there was no need for further talks. "We had come to an agreement on most of their demands on Thursday night. But, in the last minute, association president Dr Ajay Chaudhary made fresh demands for resident doctors after holding telephonic talks with some people. It seemed that he was working at the behest of someone else and wanted to scuttle the agreement."Saraf claimed that 19 out of the 33 demands made by the union have been met. Five out of the six demands related to dynamic assured career progression (DACP) have also been agreed upon. The other demands are beyond our authority, claimed the minister. He claimed that no deaths have been reported in the state due to the absence of medical care. "Whatever deaths reported in the media are normal deaths and not due to denial of medical care," said the minister. He claimed that about 60% of the doctors were not on strike.Meanwhile, Opposition leader Rameshwar Dudi accused the chief minister of being 'insensitive'. "The health minister says the pay anomalies of doctors are in the domain of chief minister. While the people are suffering due to the outbreak of seasonal diseases like malaria, dengue, etc. on the one hand, the chief minister and health minister are behaving without the required sensitivity on the other," he said. He alleged that a solution to the strike was still elusive due to the ongoing cold war between two cabinet ministers.
