The first and foremost thing is that I am being projected as a role model for Kashmiri Youth. The post further reads that she wants to apologize to all those who she may have “unintentionally hurt”. To mention, Dangal has become the highest grossing film of the Bollywood ever.

On a day when Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti made a reference to Dangal girl Zaira Waseem in the upper house of the legislature, the teenage star from Kashmir who played the role of Geeta Phogat in recently released Amir Khan starrer Dangal, took to social networking site Facebook Monday and issued a public apology. Zaira had received criticism on social media circles apparently for her meeting with politicians. Her Facebook post reads, “This is an open confession/apology. I know that many people have been offended and displeased by my recent actions or by the people I have recently met.” A few days ago, a photograph of Zaira with CM Mehbooba Mufti appeared in mainstream media, which draw flak from many people particularly youth. The post further reads that she wants to apologize to all those who she may have “unintentionally hurt”. To mention, Dangal has become the highest grossing film of the Bollywood ever. Zaira termed her recent actions as “not deliberate”. She hoped that she will be forgiven for her “unintentional” actions. She said that people should stop calling her role-model of youngsters. “There are few more things which are very important and I want to clear them as well. The first and foremost thing is that I am being projected as a role model for Kashmiri Youth. I want to make it very clear that I do not want anyone to follow in my footsteps or even consider me as a role model. I’m not proud of what I’m doing and I want everyone, especially the Youth to know that there are real role models out there whether they be in this time or in our history.” A source close to Zaira told Kashmir Life that the circumstances compelled her to meet political persons otherwise she is not interested in meeting politicians. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today while referring to her meeting with Zaira said that these girls must be encouraged for they are the real stars of the people.
