The policing to ensure safety and security in all the 20 venues and to manage traffic in the city during the festival has to show compassion to participants, teachers and the public in general. Police personnel totalling 800 will be deployed in and around the venues. The personnel were instructed to show no sign of ‘police power’ while handling the crowds at the venue and assisting people. “You should be alert and at the same time compassionate,” Inspector General of Police (Kannur Range) Dinendra Kashyap urged the personnel who gathered at the main venue at the Police Maidan here on Monday morning for a briefing by higher officers. The police launched a helpline number (99478 00100) assist visitors and the public.
