more-in KOCHI: Thrikkakara MLA P.T. Thomas on Wednesday slammed the State police for being sloppy in netting the main accused, Pulsar Suni, in the case relating to the attack on a woman actor. Mr. Thomas told the media here that while the actor who survived the assault had informed the police, senior officials only came to know about it when he called them late in the night after the incident. He termed “irresponsible” the way the incident was initially reported by Kairali television channel and demanded action against it. The legislator said while he had informed the Assembly about Ernakulam district being in the clutches of quotation gangs (gangs operating on contract to attack designated targets), the government had refused to do anything after an initial spell of perfunctory action. He accused the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, of remaining silent, and said the police were not able to nab the accused on the night the incident happened. While actor Lal had called up the DGP at 11 p.m., the range IG and the City Police Commissioner arrived only by 12.30 a.m. The police are answerable as to how the accused remained at large right under their nose, Mr. Thomas said.
