Biometric system for transparency in police recruitment

Kolhapur: The city police department will use a biometric system in the constable recruitment drive scheduled to start on Wednesday.According to police officials, biometric technology will increase transparency in the recruitment process. All other tests will be video recorded to ensure transparency in tests.A team of 10 police inspectors, 124 police sub inspectors, 19 assistant police inspectors and 300 constables will conduct the recruitment process and various tests. Satish Mane , deputy superintendent of police of the home department, Kolhapur , said, "We received 5,800 applications for the recruitment of 66 seats. Candidates have been told to be present at the police parade ground on Wednesday to appear for the 1,600-m race. On the first day, 500 candidates will be called and from March 23, 1,000 candidates will be called for the drive.

Satish Mane , deputy superintendent of police of the home department, Kolhapur , said, "We received 5,800 applications for the recruitment of 66 seats. The selection process will start from 7am on March 22 with physical tests. On the first day, 500 candidates will be called and from March 23, 1,000 candidates will be called for the drive."Mane added that at the first stage, the candidates' hall tickets will be verified and their thumb impressions will be recorded in a computer. "This is to ensure their identity for future reference. After this, their height, weight and chest will be measured," he said.Following this, the verification process of the candidates' original documents will take place. These documents will include mark sheets and passing certificates to prove age and caste.The police department will follow this up with various physical tests of candidates. This will include high jump, shot put, pull ups and laps of 100m. Candidates have been told to be present at the police parade ground on Wednesday to appear for the 1,600-m race.
