Kannur team wins The Hindu Young World Quiz

After a long time, a team from Wayanad district made it to the final of The Hindu Young World Quiz. Winners of The Hindu Young World Quiz competition, Saharsh Santhosh and Amal.P. Saharsh Santhosh and Rahul Preman, 9th standard students of the school, walked away with the first prize at the 17th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz Competition held at The Taj Gateway Hotel in Kozhikode on Monday. The only team from Kozhikode district in the final, consisting of Anand.R and Anees Ahmed A from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Govindapuram, came sixth. Raghavan of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kannur, with chief guest Mrunmai Joshi, Municipal Corporation Secretary, in Kozhikode on Monday.

Saharsh Santhosh and Rahul Preman, 9th standard students of the school, walked away with the first prize at the 17th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz Competition held at The Taj Gateway Hotel in Kozhikode on Monday. Their batchmates Amal.P. Raghavan and Harith Harish bagged the second prize. After a long time, a team from Wayanad district made it to the final of The Hindu Young World Quiz. The team comprising Sidharth Jayachandran and Rohit.M. Nair from The Green Hills Public School, Sulthan Bathery, won the third prize. Two teams from Sreepuram English Medium High School, Kannur, reached the final. The school was represented by a team comprising Nandana Salil and Nivedita Salil, two of a triplet. The other team consisted of Aishwarya Sunil and Sweta Ramachandran. The teams bagged 5th and 4th places respectively. The only team from Kozhikode district in the final, consisting of Anand.R and Anees Ahmed A from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Govindapuram, came sixth. Prizes for the winners included a shield, school bags from Wildcraft, and notebooks and mechanical pencils from Camlin. The first prize winners also received bicycles from Hercules and BSA Lady Bird. Around 300 teams from schools across north Kerala participated in the competition. Six teams were selected for the final. The winners got 110 marks in the final, scoring 35 marks more to beat the runners-up. Quiz master V.V. Ramanan, with decades of experience in conducting competitions, followed his grid format in presenting the questions. It took the first team three rounds to recognise tennis star Sania Mirza hidden behind the grid. There were direct questions, answers that needed a question, audio-visual questions and India-specific questions. The questions that were not answered by the teams were passed on to the members of the audience who participated actively in the contest and won many prizes. Camlin Mechanical Pencils was the national sponsors of the quiz powered by Life Insurance Corporation of India. BSA Lady Bird and Hercules were the national gift sponsors, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited was the regional sponsor. The Taj Gateway Hotel was the venue sponsor.
