They said that as LU has switched from annual to semester examination system, examination fee will naturally be charged twice. LUCKNOW: Following the uproar over up to 128% hike in fees for undergraduate courses, Lucknow University uploaded a new revised fee structure on its website on Monday, bringing down the maximum hike substantially. In the new fee structure, LU has revised the big hike in BCom (self finance) fee, bringing it drastically down from the maximum of 128% to 28.64%.LU officials further clarified that the fee hike is not as huge as is being claimed. The hike in regular fees has been marginal and it’s the exam fee which is now being charged for two semesters in a year that is making the net fee hike appear high as compared to last year. The semester system has been introduced for students’ welfare, they said.“LU has reduced the examination fee in students’ interest but since exams will now be held twice a year under the newly-adopted semester system hence examination fees has to be paid separately for the two semesters, thereby increasing total annual fee.

A marginal increase in fees and examination fees makes the total fee appear high as compared to last year,” said LU spokesperson N K Pandey. He said there is only 15% increase in fees of self-finance courses while in regular courses the maximum hike is 8%, 25% and 60% in BCom, BSc and BA courses, respectively. The new fee is applicable only to the new admissions for the first semester.Pandey further said that at the time of admission, candidates only have to pay fee for the first semester and not the full annual fee.The UG fee structure put up by the university on its website on Saturday was removed and a revised one was uploaded.Apart from BCom (self finance), the fees of remaining courses was same as declared earlier.
