Patient dies during treatment, family assaults KGMU staff

LUCKNOW: Alleging negligence after the death of a patient angry family members assaulted the public relations officer of KGMU trauma centre and his staff on Wednesday morning. The trauma centre staff tried to rescue the PRO but were outnumbered. However, since the hospital was not able to provide a ventilator, Nigam died at around 1:30am.As the news reached his locality, a large crowd gathered at the trauma centre. The critically injured Nigam was brought to the trauma centre.During examination, Ni gam's condition deteriorated further and his family requested the hospital staff and PRO Rajesh Singh to arrange a ventilator to save his life. Services were temporarily affected at the trauma centre due to the ruckus.According to police, Ranjeet Nigam of Yahiyaganj was suffering with epilepsy .He fell down from the terrace of third floor of his house on Tuesday night.

The mob allegedly dragged the PRO and thrashed him. The trauma centre staff tried to rescue the PRO but were outnumbered. Police said a casewas registered against the kin of the deceased.
