LUCKNOW: Friends of Ayodhya, a peoples' group in the temple town, has welcomed the apex court observation of finding an amicable solution to the Janmabhoomi issue. Officially registered as Shri Saryu Avadh Balak Sewa Samiti, the 110 year old organisation feels that the dispute has to end for the sake of Ayodhya 's development. Convenor Krishna Kumar Mishra aka Barfi Maharaj , said, "Courts have failed to resolve the issue for decades now. It is a matter relating to the people of the two communities and only they can solve the issue."Mahant Girishpati Tripathi of the Tewari Mandir said, "Ayodhya may have earned a bigger name as the birthplace of Rama but it is also very close to the heart of Muslims who call it choti mecca because of the presence of mazars of their revered saints. The two communities have lived in amity for centuries and can have an amicable solution to it."Ayodhya is perhaps the only place in India to have the mazar of Islamic paighambar Hazrat Shees which makes the place a must-visit for Muslims. Expectedly, Hazrat Shees's mazar is one of the most revered among all places. "Hazrat Shees was the son of Hazrat Aadam (the first man to be sent on earth) and epitomized the importance of sharing in life," said Mohd Kaleen-ud-Din Firdausi , caretaker adding, that it finds mention in all books on Ayodhya.Faculty in Lucknow University's public administration department and group's active member Prof Manoj Dixit said, "the dispute had impeded development of Ayodhya. It has deprived it of its righful dues like safe drinking water, sanitation, sewerage and hampered development of tourism facilities. Resolving the issue is necessary to ensure its development and an out of court settlement which would involve people will be more acceptable than anything else."Chief of Rashik sect, Mahant Janmejaye Sharn who patronises 'Friends of Ayodhya' and is associated with retired Justice Palok Basu 's campaign also bats for the solution. "The matter relates to the people of Ayodhya and we have already voiced our demand for an out of court settlement of the issue. Our written plea has reached the apex court through the commissioner of Faizabad. We hope to solve the matter before our generation closes its eye like Hashim Ansari," he said. Household data from the latest census asserts the need for development For instance: residents in 75% of the houses resort to open defecation while 52% homes have no electricity.
