Diploma course inaugurated at Pameti

The chief guest congratulated Pameti for starting this programme and lauded its efforts for up gradation of technical competency of input dealers. Therefore, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, ministry of agri and farmers’ welfare, has launched this diploma which will facilitate them to serve the farmers better.Programme facilitator Dr Damanjit Kaur explained the course curriculum and guidelines in detail. He motivated the participants and announced that the best learner will be awarded at course completion. Dr Buttar stressed upon the use of package of practices developed by PAU while guiding the farmers. But majority of these dealers do not have formal agricultural education.

Ludhiana: A one-year diploma in agricultural extension services for input dealers (DAESI) was inaugurated by the chief guest Paramjit Singh, deputy registrar, department of cooperation, Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Pameti), PAU campus, Ludhiana.Dr GS Buttar, additional extension director, PAU, and Dr Baldev Singh, chief agriculture officer, Ludhiana, also attended the event.Pameti director Dr H S Dhaliwal extended a warm welcome to all the participants and explained the importance of agricultural education to the dealers and staff of societies, which will transform them into para-extension personnel.Rupinder Kaur, deputy director-HRM, while explaining the objective of the programme, said agri-input dealers are the primary source of information to the farming community, besides the supply of inputs. But majority of these dealers do not have formal agricultural education. Therefore, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, ministry of agri and farmers’ welfare, has launched this diploma which will facilitate them to serve the farmers better.Programme facilitator Dr Damanjit Kaur explained the course curriculum and guidelines in detail. She said the technical information will be delivered through contact classes and field visits by agricultural experts and practitioners on Saturdays for 48 days spread over a year.Dr Singh shared some examples where lack of knowledge of input dealers harmed farmers economically. Dr Buttar stressed upon the use of package of practices developed by PAU while guiding the farmers. The chief guest congratulated Pameti for starting this programme and lauded its efforts for up gradation of technical competency of input dealers. He motivated the participants and announced that the best learner will be awarded at course completion. He exhorted the need for more such programmes in other districts as well.
