LUDHIANA: Two Unidentified motorcycle borne miscreants shot dead a father son duo, who were associated with Dera Sacha Sauda , at a Dera canteen in Jaghera village in Payal area, around fifty kilometers from here. The deceased was identified as 55 year old Satpal Singh and his twenty eight year old son Ramesh Kumar , who used to perform service at the canteen of Naam Charcha Ghar at village Jagera.Police officials said that on Saturday at around 9 pm, father son duo, who owned cloth shop, was performing service at the Naam Charcha Ghar with some Dera followers sitting there. They added that suddenly two motorcycle borne miscreants reached the spot and fired at the duo. Cops said that the duo died on the spot even as the attackers managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. They added that after the incident other Dera Followers, gathered at the spot and later some onlooker informed police.On being informed, senior police officers including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna Satinder Singh , Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) Payal, Varinderjeet Singh reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.DSP Payal said that they are probing the matter and will scan the CCTV footage to dole out clues in the case. He added that number of bullets received by the deceased persons would be known after post mortem examination.Police officials said that the Dera Premis sitting with the deceased persons didn't see the faces of the attackers. They added that matter is being probed from all angles including personal rivalry, if any, or tension between Dera followers and some radical Sikh organizations. Police officer said that security has been beefed up in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
