MY MLA MY AGENDA: LUDHIANA CENTRAL MLA Minna Zutshi Ludhiana, March 19 Ludhiana Central MLA Surinder Kumar Dawar says it is time to complete pending projects that, according to him, remained in limbo as the previous SAD-BJP government meted out a step-motherly treatment to the constituencies with Congress legislators. Dawar believes that the voters re-elected him as he remained accessible to the people. He said he was first elected as MLA in 2002 from the then-Ludhiana East constituency that after some additions and deletions in the areas was renamed as Ludhiana Central in 2012. In 2012, he was elected as MLA from Ludhiana Central. “This is my third time as an MLA. I will remain, as earlier, accessible to the people of my constituency. I’ll provide all help to the pension holders, blue-card holders and other disadvantaged sections who need support,” said Dawar. He said already he has started his work and the next few days would see a speeding up of the work. The thrust will remain on providing civic amenities to the people of the constituency. His focus would be: Covering the nullahs The work for covering the 2.5-3 km nullah from Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib to Field Ganj was started in 2005. When the Congress government was voted out of power in 2007, the pace of work slackened, said Dawar. “About 60 per cent work on this remains to be done. Only 40 per cent has been completed so far. My priority would be to complete the remaining part on a war-footing.” Dawar said he has promised the people of his constituency that the Shivaji Nagar nullah would be covered. “I reiterate my promise. Covering this nullah is important for the development of the area.” Constructing roads There are some roads that await construction. Dawar said the 70-foot road at Sundernagar is an important project. “Many road-related projects are hanging fire. These include the Rs-35-lakh Bajwa Nagar Road project and Rs-36-lakh Purana Bazaar project. In Prem Nagar, the development work in some patches awaits completion. My endeavour would be to expedite these projects.”
