Gangster sent back to jail after month-long grilling

Ludhiana, March 21 Gangster Bagga Khan, who is facing dozens of cases, including an attempt-to-murder case in Ludhiana Commissionerate, has been sent back to the Amritsar Central Jail after over a month-long joint interrogation by the STF and the police authorities. Bagga was wanted by the state police in more than a dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and the Arms Act registered in separate police districts. He was today produced in the Ludhiana court in connection with an attempt-to-murder case registered against him on June 23, 2016. He, along with notorious gangster Goru Bacha, had shot at Johny Lamba on suspicion that he was trying to get him arrested. Six bullets were pumped into the body of Johny, a resident of Railway Quarters. Bagga Khan was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) then headed by Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh as IG STF. Kunwar is now posted as Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana. The STF had arrested Bagga from Makhu following an encounter on February 11. He was arrested along with his accomplices Gahiya Khan, Aman, Stephen and Vishal form the Makhu area. They had been mainly active in the Malwa belt for the past seven years. Before forming a gang, they used to supply countrymade weapons to gangsters. Khan was also wanted in the Tarn Taran gang war that took place at Harike on the night of August 9 last year. Dilbagh Singh, alias Lamma Patti, also a gangster, was killed while another person, identified as Akul Khatri, was injured in the gang war. Former STF chief Kunwar said since Bagga was wanted in more than two dozen cases, he was taken on police remand for cases registered against him in the state following his arrest on February 11. The entire interrogation took place at the STF Headquarters in Amritsar for around 40 days.
