MANGALURU: Mangaluru city police foiled murder and dacoity bids by arresting six persons and seizing weapons from them on Sunday.A team of Mangaluru CCB seized two pistols, seven live bullets, two knives, three mobile phones and two vehicles from the gang that was preparing to murder a person from Panambur and also rob rich people. The arrested are Safwan Hussein,33, Mohammed Faizal Ibrahim Sheikh,33, Samshuddeen,27, from Surathkal, Umar Farooq ,25, Mohammed Ansar,30, of Ullal and Abdul Nasir,34, from Emmekere area in the city.DCP (law and order) KM Shantharaju told reporters that the CCB has arrested the gang following a tip off that the accused were hatching a plot to kill a person and also rob rich people at Tannirbavi on Sunday. The accused, who were involved in various crimes and out from jail, had arrived at Tannirbavi in a Maruti Swift car and an auto rickshaw, the DCP said.Safwan Hussein, who was booked under Goonda Act in December 2015, is out from the jail after serving a jail term. He was involved in 23 criminal cases including murder attempt, abduction, dacoity and assault on policemen on duty. Safwan is the main accused in the accused in infamous Deralakatte kidnap and rape case, he said.Mohammed Faizal Ibrahim Sheikh has eight cases registered against him for murder attempt, dacoity, assault in jail etc. Shamsuddeen is facing trial in eight cases, Abdul Nasir nine and Umar Farooq has three cases.Though there is no pending case against Mohammed Ansar, police are looking into his background. Accused and the seized items have been handed over to Panambur police for further investigation, Shantharaju said while congratulating CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik and his team for successfully nabbing the accused.
