Palakkad division introduces PoS at more places, counters

Parcel offices at Palakkad junction, Kozhikode, Shoranur junction and Mangaluru Central have also favoured this facility for their routine transactions. Railway passengers seeking reservation tickets can now swipe their debit card or credit card to make necessary payments.In Palakkad division, swiping machines have been installed at reservation counters of 15 stations and at the satellite/non-rail head reservation counters of three centres. MANGALURU: Southern Railway has extensively introduced point of sale (swiping) machines at reservation ticket counters, integrated unreserved ticketing counters (IUTS-where reservation of train ticket is possible) and at the parcel offices of major stations. They are Mangaluru Central, Kasargod, Payyannur, Kannur, Thalassery, Mahe, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Feroke, Tirur, Shoranur junction, Angadipuram, Ottapalam, Palakkad junction and Palakkad Town.POS machines have also been introduced at non-rail head reservation counters at Malappuram and Waynad; satellite Reservation counter at Kozhikode Medical College and at the IUTS reservation counters at the following stations - Nileswaram Charavathur, Trikkaripur, Payangadi, Kannapuram, Valapatnam, Quilandi, Vallikunnu, Parappanangadi, Tanur, Kuttipuram, Pattambi, Nilambur Road and Vaniambala.Apart from these, the parcel offices of following eight major railway stations have also been provided with swiping machines: Mangaluru junction, Mangaluru Central, Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur and Palakkad junctions.In a review conducted up to March 16 on the extent of utilisation of the swiping machines, it is revealed that this facility has already become popular at reservation counters of Kannur, Kozhikode and Mangaluru Central.The use of machines installed at Palakkad Town, Palakkad and Shoranur junctions, Tirur and Satellite counter/ Kozhikode is gradually picking up.
