Meerut: A 45-year-old woman was critically injured after a man allegedly opened fire at her on Thursday evening. The women used to work at a salon in Meerut’s Lisari Gate area. She was at her work place when the attack took place by her alleged stalker Sajid.The local police are waiting for an official complaint from the victim to lodge an FIR in the case, though the investigation has already begun.According to the witnesses, the attacker allegedly opened fire at the woman and fled from the spot. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition is critical, police said.“The accused is an obsessive stalker and has been harassing the victim for long. Today he attacked the woman at her workplace and fled from the spot. Police teams have been pressed in action to trace him,” Ranvijay Singh, superintendent of Police (City) said.Sajid had been stalking the victim for long and the latter had approached local police on December 25 last year with a written complain but the local police allegedly didn’t act.“It has come to our notice that the women had approached local police. If that is found to be true, strict action will be taken against the concerned cops,” SP (city) said.
