Kabir Agarwal | TNNMeerut: In keeping with its vision for a ‘Smart Cantt.’, the Meerut Cantonment Board (MCB) is planning on upgrading and modernisnig its schools. The MCB currently has three primary schools, one public school and one intermediate college, where approximately 3000 students study. The MCB plans to install electronic boards, television screens, biometric attendance mechanism, projectors, audio-video systems and cameras in all these institutions. The proposal has been prepared and is awaiting approval by the board.“All the schools will be upgraded in keeping with the changing technology. Often, people think of government schools as institutions where teachers are absent, quality of teaching is bad and the results are bad. We want to change that image. We want to provide the best education to our students. Most of the students in our schools are from economically weaker backgrounds and can not afford private schools. We want to be able to provide them the best facilities, even better than private schools”, said MA Zafar, media officer, MCB.The MCB is hopeful that its efforts will provide better education to the students and make the teachers more accountable. “With smart classes and e-classes, we will make available to the students the best content available. We are also planning on installing projectors. More computers will be added in the computer labs. Cameras will be made available to schools for various activities and to train students. We will also install biometric attendance mechanism, which will be monitored centrally to make the teachers more accountable”, Zafar added.
