BMC election results 2017: Shiv Sena ahead of BJP

Among those who won in Bhandup were Dipali Gosavi from Shiv Sena in ward 109, Deepmala Badhe from Shiv Sena in ward 113 and Ramesh Korgaonkar from Shiv Sena in 114. MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena was leading from 93 seats while the BJP was leading from 68 seats. The Shiv Sena swept the Marathi belt of Dadar-Naigaum-Parel-Lalbaug area and also broke into Congress strongholds of Dharavi and Naigaum.Of the seven seats in F-south ward (Lalbaug-Parel), six were retained by Shiv Sena and one went to Congress.Meanwhile, the prestige areas like Dadar and Shivaji Park were also retained by Shiv Sena. Congress retained its seat in Bhandup in ward 110 where Asha Koparkar, wife of former corporator Suresh Koparkar, had a comfortable win. Unexpectedly, the MNS was leading from 10 seats in the city.

The most high profile fights in the city is between former Mayor and MLA Vishakha Raut and wife of sitting corporator from MNS Sandeep Deshpande, in which Raut was leading with 2264 votes, with the final results yet to be announced.Former mayors from Shiv Sena Shraddha Jadhav and Milind Vaidya won from Parel and Mahim respectively.Several seniors and heavyweight corporators, such as Congress' Pravin Chheda, brother of city unit chief Ashish Shelar, have lost the elections. Three-time sitting corporator of Congress Sheetal Mhatre also lost the seat.The richest candidate, Parag Shah, who had declared assets worth Rs 700 crore, has won beating old hand Pravin Chheda.Meanwhile, BJP won all six corporation seats in Mulund West and East. The winners included Neil Somaiya (son of BJP MP Kirit Somaiya), Manoj Kotak, Prakash Gangadhare and Samita Kamble from Mulund West and Rajni Keni and Prabhakar Shinde from Mulund East.The BJP improved its performance from four seats in 2012 to six this time - a clean sweep in T ward.Bhandup witnessed several Shiv Sena pockets being retained, specially those which it had lost to MNS last time.
