BJP aspirant arrested for attack on poll winner

MUMBAI: The Vinobha Bhave Nagar police have arrested seven persons in connection with an attack on a newly elected MNS corporator, Sanjay Turde , and party workers late on Thursday night in Kurla.The police arrested seven persons, including BJP candidate Sudhir Katu and his six supporters, for the brutal attack. "On Thursday, there was a quarrel between the two party workers that led to this incident. Turde was seriously injuried and taken to a private hospital but later admitted to Rajawadi Hospital The police said that more than 20 BJP workers had been booked for the attack on Turde. According to the police, on Thursday at 10.30 pm as Turde was standing outside his office in Kalina a mob of more than 50 attacked them with swords, bamboos and paver blocks. On the other hand, we are looking for the other accused who were involved in this gruesome attack," said a senior police officer.The accused have been booked under sections 141 (unlawful assembly), 329 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
