23-year-old man gets 10 years in jail for rape

A sessions court has sentenced a 23-year-old man to 10-year imprisonment for rape of a 21-year-old woman. While Shaikh was convicted under Section 376 (rape), Mandal and Thakeer were convicted under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code. Two of his associates were convicted for abducting the victim and sentenced to four years in jail. The three then took her to Cotton Green on some pretext where Shaikh sexually abused her. While Shaikh was convicted under Section 376 (rape), Mandal and Thakeer were convicted under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code.
