Mysuru: Observing the 26th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid , various Muslim organisations came together to submit a memorandum urging the government to rebuild the structure at the disputed site.Secretary of Rifahul Muslimeen Educational Trust and former corporator KC Shoukath Pasha submitted the memorandum to additional deputy commissioner Yogesh.Besides demanding that the place of worship be rebuilt, the memorandum has called on the government and law enforcement agencies to clear all pending cases pertaining to the demolition of the masjid, and initiate action against those involved in razing the structure.The activists asked the government to refrain from passing any legislation in the Parliament, which would hobble the practice of the principles of fair justice. They subsequently expressed gratitude to those of a secular mindset, for their support.Protest in Shivamogga Meanwhile, activists of Social Democratic Party of India ( SDPI ) held a protest in Shivamogga to condemn the demolition of Babri Masjid on this day 26 years ago. The protesters gathered near the deputy commissioner’s office and raised slogans against pro-Hindu organisations that were allegedly responsible for bringing the structure down, and instigating communal violence.SDPI Shivamogga district president Salim Khan said that right-wing outfits and ‘communal’ BJP were creating needless problems in the issue. “They do not believe in democracy and judiciary. They are raking up the issue for political gains. The BJP and Sangh Parivar have no concern for the poor. They are promoting Fascism in the country. SDPI will wait for the final verdict. We are keen to rebuild Babri Masjid,” said Khan.Advocate and SDPI activist Saharaj Siddiq accused RSS members of fomenting chaos in the country, and destroying democratic values by raising calls to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
